INTRODUCTION TO STAINLESS STEEL 440A / AISI 440A / UNS S44002

Hastelloy C276

MOKSH TUBES & FITTINGS LLP is a leading supplier, exporter, importer, and stockist of a comprehensive range of Stainless Steel 440A products, including Pipes & Tubes, Pipe Fittings, Flanges, Fasteners, Sheets & Plates, Coils, Wires, Round Bars, Flat Bars, Angles, Channels, Wire Mesh, and other custom or hard-to-find 440A components.

Stainless Steel 440A is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel that delivers an excellent balance between hardness, strength, and corrosion resistance. This alloy contains more chromium than Type 410, enhancing its corrosion resistance, while the higher carbon content provides increased wear resistance and edge retention. It is suitable for applications requiring strong mechanical performance combined with hardness and polishability.

440A stainless steel is magnetic in all conditions and can be hardened through conventional heat treatment processes. This property makes it ideal for the manufacture of cutting tools, blades, valve parts, and components that require both high surface hardness and dimensional stability. It also performs exceptionally well in environments with moderate corrosion exposure.

Among the 440 stainless steel series (440A, 440B, and 440C), 440A offers the best corrosion resistance while maintaining excellent machinability in the annealed condition. Its ability to combine hardness, strength, and cost-efficiency makes it one of the most reliable martensitic grades for industrial and commercial use.
