Introduction to Stainless Steel 416 / AISI 416 / UNS S41600

Stainless Steel 416

MOKSH TUBES & FITTINGS LLP is a reputed supplier, exporter, importer, and stockist of high-quality Stainless Steel 416 products, including pipes, tubes, sheets, plates, coils, bars, fittings, flanges, fasteners, wire mesh, and custom-engineered components.

Stainless Steel 416 is a martensitic, free-machining stainless steel that contains around 12–14% chromium and a small amount of sulfur, which significantly improves its machinability compared to other stainless grades. In fact, 416 is considered one of the most easily machinable stainless steels, making it a popular choice for parts requiring extensive machining and moderate corrosion resistance.

It offers good mechanical strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and can be heat treated to enhance hardness and wear resistance. However, because of the added sulfur, its corrosion resistance is slightly lower than that of Stainless Steel 410. It is magnetic in all conditions and is commonly used in automotive, aerospace, valves, shafts, and fasteners.
